Who is Teryn Ashleigh?

The Person.

Hello! As I embark upon my thirties within this year, I cringe. Not because I am a specific number in age, but because I feel like a beginner in life, but perhaps I should not be.

I've wanted to be an artist since early elementary school. I knew I wanted to create and have since been curious as to how to make things. I am much more inclined toward 2D artwork and photography. Creating is about problem solving, and the process usually helps me problem solve outside of the art piece itself.

Beyond my life as an artist, I am a mother first and foremost. I cannot live without the ability to paint and draw, but I also cannot live without my two little boys.

The Medium.

Drawings are always done in either graphite or charcoal, or both. I prefer to do works that are more about blending and shades than lines.

My primary medium is Acrylic paint. I prefer painting to most any medium and use Acrylics for both canvas and mural work.

I have only begun to understand how to manipulate watercolor, ink, and pastels and use them more infrequently than other mediums.

The Mission.

In 2012, I finally discovered my mission in art. I have always created pieces layered with hope and a child-like quality. After the birth of my children and the struggles they've faced in their first few years of life, the message was clear: I am inspired by and hope to inspire children.

Most of my 'professional' artwork, with the exception of individual commissions, will be geared towards uplifting children and celebrating what it is to be a child. Or, what one should be able to experience as a child. I plan to approach every piece of work with the goal to distract children from harsh reality and give them a dream for the future. (And perhaps, to serve as a distraction for myself as well).
