Monument Series
Details: 3x5 feet Acrylics on non-woven media. Concept: My oldest son is Autistic. The first sign that he not only learned but used the most frequently was "Stars". These are his hands at 5 years old, signing stars.
6.25x2.5 feet Acrylic Non Woven Media Concept: Monument to my 2 boys. They can do anything they want if they have the determination. Interesting Details: Blocks are not created to mimic children's blocks perfectly. My oldest son did the hand prints that make up the background of the painting in blue and white. My youngest son did the hand prints that are green, yellow, and red.
Acrylics on Non Woven Media 6'x3' Concept: Play on scale and the idea of Monuments. Oversized child playing in his sandbox, constructing an undersized Monument Valley. Concept includes our responsibility, protection and awe of nature. Also, that we can exist in and create a world that we want to live in.
Acrylic on Canvas, 24"x 24" Concept: Monument Tribute to my two sons who both have disabilities. When the disabilities are all to do with their minds, that's where the question mark lies.
Acrylics on Non Woven Media 6.25x4ft Concept: The blue puzzle pieces are iconic for Autism. My oldest son has Autism and this is to suggest that he has such a bright future ahead of him and I hope it's a wonderful road.
Acrylics 2.5x4ft Non Woven Media Concept: One of the "signs" of Autism is a preoccupation with spinning. My oldest was obsessed with any spinning object, mostly during his 2nd and 3rd years. He's grown out of the "obsessive" part of this, however, he does still show a desire for spinning objects to this day. The scene is from North Coyote Buttes, Arizona. I thought it looked like a scape that a spinning top could create.
Acrylics Non Woven Media 3x4 ft Concept: The foot belongs to my oldest son. Painted in a very wonderful scene of Utah landscape, this represents the world we are leaving to our children and their job in molding it as they grow up.

Acrylics
Acrylic on Canvas, 6ft in length when canvases hung side by side. This is "Landscape Arch" from Arches National Park. It has collapsed since I last visited the park, but the view was always wonderful. The assignment was to mimic an artist style that I liked, and I chose Van Gogh.
